Intermediate Pistol Course

Class Goal: To advance those who are safe and comfortable with the basics of pistol shooting.

Our Intermediate Pistol class is the third installment in our structured firearms training series, designed for those who have completed the Introduction to Firearms and Handgun Fundamentals classes or have equivalent experience. This class aims to elevate your shooting skills by introducing more advanced techniques and ensuring you are well-prepared for a variety of real-world scenarios.

Course Description:

To advance those who are safe and comfortable with the basics of pistol shooting.

Key Components of the Course:

  • Safety Brief: An essential overview of range safety protocols and emergency procedures to ensure a secure training environment.

  • Rules of Safe Gun Handling: Reinforcement of the fundamental principles of firearm safety, emphasizing the importance of consistent and vigilant safe handling practices.

  • Use of a Tourniquet: Instruction on the proper use of a tourniquet, an essential skill for emergency medical situations, including hands-on practice.

  • Dry Fire Repetitions: Advanced practice exercises without live ammunition to refine shooting techniques and develop muscle memory.

  • Live Fire Repetitions: Supervised live fire exercises to apply advanced techniques in a controlled environment, focusing on accuracy, speed, and control.

  • Hands-On Demonstrations: Instructors will provide real-time demonstrations of advanced techniques and procedures, offering visual and practical learning opportunities.

  • Movement Drills: Introduction to shooting while moving, an essential skill for dynamic situations. Drills will focus on maintaining accuracy and control while on the move.

  • Alternative Shooting Positions: Instruction and practice on various shooting positions such as kneeling, prone, and unconventional stances to improve adaptability and effectiveness.

  • Reloading Techniques: Advanced reloading drills, including tactical and emergency reloads, to ensure proficiency and speed in various scenarios.

  • Malfunction Drills: How to identify and safely clear more complex firearm malfunctions.

  • Mental Awareness and Defensive Mindset: Further development of situational awareness and a defensive mindset, emphasizing quick decision-making and stress management.

  • Student Assessment: Each participant will be individually assessed to identify strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring personalized guidance.

  • Personal Guidance: Instructors will offer tailored feedback and coaching to help students progress in their skill development.

  • Debrief: A concluding session to review the day’s activities, discuss lessons learned, and provide recommendations for further training.

    • 1 spare magazine

    • Ear protection

    • Eye protection

    • Clothing suitable for an outdoor range

  • Round Count: 150 rounds of ammunition
